THE GREEN LAKE VALLEY AND ITS SURROUNDINGS is an exceptionally photogenic area of the High Tatras. It offers a vast number of different compositions suitable for artistic landscape photography. All of these spots are easily accessible. The workshop is intended for both beginner and advanced landscape photographers who want to take their work a step further and learn how to capture not just what we see, but especially what we feel in the moment, which is the essence of fine art landscape photography. It is also suitable for all photographers who want to spend pleasant moments in a relaxed atmosphere with like-minded people in the beautiful nature of the Tatras.
Our goal is simple: we want you to go home with great photos, a deeper knowledge of landscape
photography photography, and incredible memories. We’re here to help you enhance your
photography skills and in addition to in field tutoring, we’ll cover both theory and practical aspects throughout the week, including post-processing classes where we’ll work on the images we’ve captured together.
WORKSHOP ITINERARY
DAY 1
(October 3.)
On the first day of our workshop, we will start by meeting at the Kežmarská Biela voda parking lot, which is the starting point of the trail leading to the cottage by the Green Lake, where we will be staying during the weekend. (Est. 2,5 hours hike with 600 meters elevation) Once at the cottage, we will settle in, go over the plan for the upcoming days, and depending on the conditions, we will either cover some basic landscape photography theory lessons and then photograph the sunset near the cottage.
DAY 2
(October 4.)
Early in the morning, we will set out on a short, easy 30-minute hike to the nearby Veľké Biele pleso (Great White Lake), where we'll have a view of the majestic High Tatras mountains with a beautiful lake and flowers in the foreground. We will wait at this spot for the sunrise and the morning golden hour. After the photoshoot, we’ll return to the hut for breakfast. Following breakfast, there will be processing lessons in a room with a TV screen. (The processing lessons will be recorded, and each participant will later receive a recording with audio.)
In the afternoon, we will head to other interesting nearby locations where we will photograph the evening golden hour and possibly the sunset. If conditions allow, we'll also capture the Night sky above the mountains.
DAY 3
(October 5.)
On the last day, we will go out to photograph the sunrise near the cottage, on the opposite side of the Green Lake, where the sun illuminates all the surrounding peaks during the morning hour. After sunrise, we will have breakfast together. After breakfast, each participant will have the opportunity to receive individual advices on their photography work. Before lunch, we will head back to the parking lot together, marking the end of the workshop.
