Every nature lover should see the Northern Lights at least once in their lifetime. Likewise, every landscape photographer should have at least one photo of her in his portfolio. Now you have an excellent opportunity for it! Do not miss the photo expedition, which will take place in an area where this rare phenomenon occurs very often - in the beautiful fjords of the Norwegian Lofoten Islands. Lofoten is a place full of traditional fishing villages, majestic rock peaks rising directly from the ocean and endless beaches. Especially in winter, when the mountains and cliffs are covered with fresh snow, this place is a real paradise for a landscape photographer. In addition to photographing the aurora borealis, we will of course also focus on sunrises and sunsets - thanks to this, this photo expedition will be an unforgettable experience for you!
Why did we choose this date for the expedition? February is the time when Lofoten Islands are extremely photogenic. During this month we'll have a great chance to observe and photograph the aurora borealis. Simply put, february is the perfect time for a landscape photographer to visit this beautiful country.
During our Lofoten photo expedition, we will visit most beautiful places of this area. But not only the "must see" spots. We will also take you to unknown places that we discovered during our previous visits. Thanks to this, you will have exceptional photos in your portfolio.
Nature is unpredictable, especially in places like Lofoten, where the weather can change quickly. But that’s also what makes it exciting – dramatic clouds, sudden light breaks, or soft mist can turn an ordinary moment into something magical. By staying flexible, we can make the most of every opportunity and be ready when the perfect light appears.
Our main goal is to help you capture unique, powerful images – and that means sometimes changing plans, chasing the light, or returning to a location when conditions are just right. Thanks to this approach, every day becomes a small adventure, full of surprises and creative moments.
TOUR ITINERARY
DAY 1
(February 02.)
We will meet in Narvik, where your journey to the beautiful Lofoten Islands begins. After everyone arrives, we’ll get together and prepare for our transfer to the islands. We’ll make sure everyone is comfortable, and help will be available with luggage if needed. Throughout the entire photo tour, we’ll be staying in iconic Norwegian cabins in one of the fjords in the heart of the Lofoten Islands.

DAY 2
(February 03.)
After we arrive and check in, we’ll take a short break to rest and get ready for our first photo trip. In the afternoon, we will go to one of the most beautiful and famous places on the islands – the small fishing village of Hamnøy, often called the jewel of Lofoten.
Hamnøy is well known for its red fishing cabins (rorbuer) that sit on the rocks by the sea, with tall mountains in the background. We will have enough time to explore different photo spots – from the classic view on the bridge above Hamnøy, which is one of the most photographed scenes in Norway, to some quieter and less known places on the other side of the village or near the rocky shore.
If the weather is good, we will stay even after sunset to enjoy the soft blue light of the blue hour – a perfect time for calm and dreamy photos. After we return to our accommodation, we’ll have a chance to look at some of our photos together and share our first thoughts and feelings about Lofoten.
DAY 3
(February 04.)
Third day we'll spend time at one of the most photogenic and versatile locations on the islands – Skagsanden Beach. This wide, open beach is famous for its beautiful mountain backdrop, black sand patterns, and shallow pools that create perfect reflections when the tide is right.
Depending on the weather and light, this beach offers many creative opportunities – from wide landscape shots to minimalistic compositions, abstract textures in the sand, and even long exposures with flowing water or clouds. It’s a great place to slow down, explore, and play with different ideas.
We’ll take our time to walk around, find unique angles, and discuss camera settings and composition tips on the spot. If we get lucky with light, this location can be truly magical during sunrise or sunset, and even during soft, overcast conditions.
In the evening, if the skies are clear and the forecast is on our side, we may return here to try our luck with the northern lights. The wide-open view and reflections in the wet sand can make for unforgettable night shots.

DAY 4
(February 05.)
We'll begin our fourth day on the Molneva Waterfall, which cascades down dark rocks, offering plenty of opportunities for long exposures. The water creates smooth lines that contrast with the sharp, detailed textures of the surrounding rocks and landscape. This is a perfect spot to experiment with different compositions, whether it’s wide shots or close-ups of nature’s finer details.
A short walk away, we reach Morpheus Bay, where the landscape takes on a completely different, tranquil character. With views of the fjord and mountains, this location is ideal for wide-angle shots, where we can make use of natural light or soft cloud cover to create a more atmospheric mood. The contrast between the dynamic waterfall and the stillness of the bay gives us the chance to capture a variety of feelings in just one shoot.
Thanks to the proximity of both locations, we can easily combine them into one outing, focusing on different techniques – from working with exposure times to finding unique compositions in each of these distinct environments.
DAY 5
(February 06.)
We start at Vikten Beach, where smooth pebbles and majestic mountains create the perfect backdrop for photography. The outgoing waves provide an opportunity to capture beautiful lines in the composition, emphasizing the dynamic nature of the landscape. These lines will be especially effective during sunset, when the light creates warm, soft tones, adding to the atmosphere of the place.
Next, we head to Vareid, where the calm beach and surrounding mountains offer another stunning scene. During the ideal lighting conditions, particularly with low sun, we can capture the waves gently breaking on the shore, creating interesting textures and lines in the frame. The contrast between the movement of the water and the stillness of the surroundings offers plenty of photographic opportunities.
Both locations are perfect for experimenting with different exposure times, allowing us to highlight the movement of the water while capturing the peacefulness of this stunning nature.
DAY 6
(February 07.)
After moving towards the town of Leknes, we will arrive at two beautiful photographic beaches – Utakleiv and Haukland. Each of these beaches has its unique character and offers different photographic opportunities.
Haukland Beach is usually calm, making it ideal for capturing mountain reflections in the still water. On peaceful days, when the sea is almost like glass, we can capture stunning compositions where the mountains perfectly reflect in the water. The sunset here provides excellent lighting conditions, adding warm tones and a soft atmosphere to the shots.
On the other hand, Utakleiv Beach is mostly stormy, and its wild character provides great opportunities for dramatic shots. The crashing waves and imposing rock formations create a strong contrast, bringing energy and dynamism to the photos. Although the sea is often turbulent, it’s precisely this chaos that makes it so visually appealing for photographers. On this beach, you’ll also find the famous Dragon’s Eye, one of the most beautiful natural formations in the Lofoten Islands. This dragon-shaped rock formation offers a unique opportunity for interesting compositions, especially during sunset when the light reflects off the rocks, creating a mysterious atmosphere.
DAYS 7-8
(February 08. - 09.)
On our final day, we will be heading towards the town of Narvik. Along the way, we will be able to photograph many beautiful locations, such as Ramberg Beach, Skagsanden, Morpheus, and other photogenic spots offering various interesting compositions. Each place has its unique character and provides ideal conditions for capturing the beauty of Lofoten's nature.
We will also make a stop at the Gimsøy Church, a very photogenic site that offers a pleasant atmosphere for photography. This journey will not only be a great way to enjoy the landscapes but also a perfect opportunity to get some final shots to complete our photographic collection.
We will stay near the airport, which will provide us with easy access for our departure and minimize travel time on the final day. This way, we can enjoy a stress-free end to our trip, with enough time for any last-minute details before our flight.
The day of departure will be individual for each of us. We'll be staying on hotel close to the airport, (breakfast included), which will provide enough time for a relaxed start to the day and a smooth departure. It’s important to note that the flexibility of departure times allows everyone to adjust to their own place, ensuring a pleasant and stress-free end to the trip.
